Field Construction Manager

Position Summary:

The Domestic Project Manager plans, directs, coordinates, and budgets projects nationally; as well as on special occasions may be asked to support international projects. The PM is responsible for developing and documenting the overall project method statements and SOPs. Participates and leads the team through both the conceptual development of a construction project during the sales process, as well as through the design process of an actual project, using both internal and external resources. Responsible for the organization, scheduling and implementation of the projects while building strong relationships with both the internal team and external customer. Manages superintendents, assistant project managers, and others as necessary for designated projects. Reports to the Project Management Department Manager.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Establish, maintain, and manage schedules as they pertain to design, engineering, procurement, shipping and execution for multiple, and sometimes concurrent construction projects.
  • Work with superintendents, assistant project managers, foremen to plan, organize and direct activities concerning construction projects.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of Company policy and contract specifications.
  • Confer with superintendents, assistant project managers, foremen to discuss such matters as work procedures, complaints and construction challenges.
  • Initiate and maintain communications and relationships with owners and other project stakeholders to facilitate project activities.
  • Monitor and control projects through administrative direction of on-site personnel to ensure project is completed on schedule and within budget. Represent Company in project meetings and attend strategy meetings.
  • Work with contract administrator to manage financial aspects of contracts to protect Companys interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with the customer.
  • Perform take-offs and place orders for supplies/materials with both internal and external vendors.
  • Prepare requisitions and statements of work, as well as negotiate proposals and change orders for suppliers/subcontractors.
  • Requisition all necessary supplies, materials and subcontractors to complete project.
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers and clients.
  • Formulate reports concerning such areas as work progress, costs, billing and scheduling.
  • Monitor construction productivity and schedule performance and investigate reasons for less than satisfactory performance. Provide recommendations and institute measures for improvement by modification to operating procedures/work instructions.
  • Prepare health and safety plans and manage compliance in accordance with OSHA regulations. Adhere to Company safety standards and promote a culture of safety.
  • Execute contracts, insurance and other documents for subcontractors.
  • Other duties as required by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture/Engineering, Construction Management or related field of study with 3-5 years experience in commercial construction preferred. 5-8 years of real world commercial construction experience would be considered.
  • Familiarity with construction/project management software.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, plan sets and construction specifications.
  • Advanced understanding of risk management policies and procedures.
  • Extensive experience managing schedules and budgets for construction projects ranging from $1 to $3 million dollars.
  • Ability to solve customer-related problems in a positive manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with customer and staff at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Position requires primary work to be performed out of the Corporate offices in Harleysville, PA
  • Travel for face to face customer meetings and on-site visits up to 50% of the time.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes and equipment.
  • Self-supporting individual with strong sensibility for technology.
  • CCM, PMP, or similar certification preferred.
  • OSHA 30 and first aid/CPR certifications preferred.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
